i got an award! :)

Meredith over at Fashion Obsessed has given me the Versatile Blogger award! :)

When you get this award, you need to a) write 7 things about yourself, and b) give the award to 7 people who you think are versatile bloggers as well.
About me:
1) I'm one of those people who are cold all the time. I hate air conditioning.

2) I would love to have a pet skunk one day.
3) Right now I'm totally obsessed with Korean pop music.
4) I love to make jewelry, but I don't wear very much, myself. I have only a few necklaces and bracelets that I wear regularly.
5) I have a phobia of driving places that I'm not familiar. I really can't do it unless someone is in the car with me. Even then, I freak out. I hate this about myself.
6) I'm a vegetarian because I love animals sooo much. I want a pet chicken too.
7) When I was 15, I got sent to the Principal's office because the same teacher caught me and my boyfriend making out three times in on the same day. When I got back to class, my a-hole physics teacher teased me about it until I cried.

Enough about me! :-P Here are the 7 lovely bloggers who I think deserve the Versatile Blogger Award.
1) Kaylah at the Dainty Squid
2) Anna at Acquainted With the Night
3) Angela *nice name!*, Raquel, and Lindsay at seesaw *this one takes my breath away!*
4) Carrie at The Appleseed
5) Janel at Run with Scissors
6) Claire at Blah to TADA! (she's super versatile with her recycling crafts!)
7) Brina at Brina's Blog

go check them out!
just to mention a few of my other favorite blogs.. A Beautiful Mess, Smile and Wave, Design Sponge, Oh My Darling, Design is Mine, In Color Order, and Hello Dear Wind. Just to name a few.. :]

In other news, I was 10 days late registering my classes for fall quarter.. (i thought registration started on the 15th, not the first..) so needless to say, ALL THE CLASSES WERE FULL!.. I had to register for the bottom-of-the-barrel, oh-God-please-no-not-that, kind of classes.. like a drawing class at 8 in the morning that lasts until noon, and a class on the history of mideval Europe.. *kill me* lol  I'm going to keep checking back to see if there's any openings. Cause I'm really REALLY not looking forward to fall quarter. I'm all about learning new things, but I think this will be torture. gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaugh!!... this is gunna suuck.. :-P All I can do is laugh and shake my head.

Also, I just now overheard my mom is on the phone telling my dad, "Did you know that a spider is not an insect? And neither in an earthworm! An insect is something that has 6 legs. Did you know that, Larry? I learned something new today." ..I can only imagine my dad's response..

A fresh new notebook and an iPod full of K-POP

When I start something new, I like to have a clean slate. It gets me pumped for the journey ahead- especially when I know that journey won't always be easy. Like when I want to start running regularly, I go buy a new pair of running shoes, or when I start a big painting project, I might buy a nice new paintbrush. Lately, I've been interested in South Korean culture, since I discovered a new love  obsession for Korean pop music. I saw an ad for free online Korean language classes being offered here. Since they're free, I thought, hey, why not?? And I signed up. I know myself though, and I have a tendency to slack off, so to make it more fun, I went to Target and bought a new notebook *pure joy!!* and new pens, in awesome colors! *eee!*
The notebook is totally awesome. It's eco-friendly (recycled paper and banana fibers) and the pages have that cool unbleached feel, with little flecks on the natural fibers. I love it. The front and back covers have a pocket for all my print-outs. And at the top of every page, it has a little calender thing where you circle the month and the day. And did I mention the green OWL?! Love.

This is my favorite phrase. It's pronounced "sa-raung heyo" and it means I LOVE YOU. Pretty awesome, right? I wish I could be this motivated for actual school...

Today while laying out back and listening to Super Juniors's song, "Sorry Sorry," on my iPod, I noticed there were Korean characters in parentheses in the song title. I tried my hand at diciphering them.

"Sssss...aaah..r..eee..  .. .. ss-ah-r-eee.. .. sareee.. .. !! OH! SORRY SORRY!! I CAN READ KOREAN!" And I laughed hysterically and danced around my backyard in my bikini.

This is the video for the aforementioned song. :] Its pretty freakin awesome. For realz. Watch it.

And the have a version of the video that's just the dance. I am 100% going to do this with my bridal party at my wedding reception one day.. You know, instead of the Thriller Dance. <3

trees, grass, books, and the future

today in my drawing class we went out to an area by the woods that i didnt know existed. it was so super pretty, that i really want to go back. next time i think ill bring a bunch of blankets so i can stretch out, and my book, Eat Pray Love. i never liked reading in the past- i thought it was a waste of time, like video games- but for christmas last year a good friend gave me a book about an owl and i loved it. i had never read a book for mysef before, i mean, not a book for school. today at target i walked through the book section and wanted one of everything. but i decided to wait until i finish Eat Pray Love before i buy another. there are 2 points to this rambling story of mine: 1) i cant wait to go read in this pretty patch of trees, 2) i've changed a lot in the past few months. im starting to find out who i am and what im all about. im also starting to live the life ive wanted. yay. :)

oh, and in class, i sat next to a groundhog hole. he came out and saw us and made this ear-splitting whistle. it was cool. :] but i felt bad that i didnt have any snacks to leave him.
