i finished my batman drawing today! yaay! honestly, this is the first "just because" drawing that ive done in years. i would soo like to get back into doing this regularly. it feels so good to draw. and i need to be working on a custom portrait for someone. not enough time in the day.. maybe if i would quit watching so much darn tv! :-P

and i just purchased july ad space on Elsie's blog, A Beautiful Mess. im just about to go shopping, and when i get back, im planning on updating the etsy a little bit, getting ready for july.

father's day 2010

so today was father's day. my good friend, amber, had invited me to a buddhist temple to visit today, but i declined. i wanted to me with my dad on father's day.

i got him an 8GB flash drive, with a little case to store it in so it doesnt get lost.

 and i made him this little card.

haning out with my family waaas.. um.. ok ill just say it- TERRIBLE. as much as i love my dad, and want to respect him on his special day, i really wished i would have said, "sorry dad, im going to the temple. bye!"

anyway, they're not all bad. my niece is pretty adorable.

 

she has the biggest collection of silly bands id ever seen. 

which my aunt criticized, and then made racist comments about chinese people. someday, someday, ill move far away from my family. maybe ill take my niece with me.

Father's Day Giveaway!

this is the first in many coming giveaways. in honor of father's day, im giving away 2 of my art prints.

 the first one is a photography print of 3 handmade nails in a stump. taken at carrige hill farm in ohio at the blacksmith shop. its rustic. it has great detail. it would look great in any man's home.

 

the second one is a print of a scratchboard piece i did. its a horsey. :]

self-pampering

i went to bath and body works the other day to get a little somethin somethin for my friend for her birthday. came out with a lot. mostly for myself.. (hey! they were having a sale!!)

i got a couple other little bottles of lotion, not pictured, for my friend. all this for $35. the tin of mints is something i went back and forth on, but finally said, "eh, im spending $30+ on lotion, whats another buck and a half.." and im SOO glad i got them. they are beautiful AND delicious. :]

today i bought this album from iTunes:

review: LOVE IT.

i was browsing around people's blogs today and one girl had this playing in the little sidebar. i recognized it as "Dog Days are Over," the song in the commercial for Eat, Pray, Love. so i looked it up on iTunes, and i really liked most of the songs. my style of music is really upbeat, fast tempo, happy music. like owl city. (love them!) on this album, most of the songs are pretty upbeat and full of energy. a few of them are a little slower than i like, but for the most part, this will be the soundtrack to my summer.

today i turned a cardboard shoebox into a wooden box. it was pretty easy. i used woodgrain contact paper. ( not sure where it came from.. my mom got it a few years ago. im thinking walmart? ) but im pretty pleased with how it turned out. :)
