I'm planning on putting a lot of my older jewelry stock up for a clearance sale soon in my etsy shop. I feel like I have a ton of stuff just sitting around, not selling. I want to clear it out and hopefully, HOPEFULLY, get some new stuff up in my shop here shortly. So look forward to reduced prices on some cool and pretty things. :) And look forward to fresh and exciting changes.

September Ramblings

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I have an hour and a half long break between my classes. I've been spending that time sitting alone in the grass, either knitting, studying Korean, or doodling in my sketchbook. Probably my favorite time of the day. I'm a total introvert, like that.

 I have to admit, I cheated today. I bought something I didn't need. Candles. Up until just a few days ago, I was still clinging to summertime. But now I've accepted that it's fall and my beloved 90some degree heat is gone. It's cold. I love the beauties of fall, but I hate the cold. So I bought some candles to help get me into the autumn spirit. But in my defence, I really wanted to $14 pumpkin clove candle from Target. But I got the $2.47 votive 6-pack from Hob Lob. Godda save up my money for Korea! <3

 Just randomly, I wanted to share my favorite snack. Annie's Bunnie Graham Friends. They're cute, delicious, and they make a positive statement about racial equality. Kind of like Kashi's Good Friends Cereal.. *ahem* .. :]

A little thanks again to Jaymie, one of my Dear Darlings Penpals, for this awesome little owl necklace. Seriously. Love it. Mmm! Check out her blog! She has some really beautiful illustrations. (I'll be writing back to all of you soon.)

first day of school - fall 2010

Today I treated myself to a Frappe from McDonald's. I don't usually drink coffee because I'm afraid of getting hooked, but today I thought it was necessary. And delicious. I haven't gotten much sleep the past few days, and my only class today was an 8:30-12 drawing class. On the way to school I listened to some of the music that I loved in high school, and fell in love with these songs and groups all over again. Alkaline Trio, The Weakerthans, The Shins, The Decemberists. Love them. Takes me way back.

this picture is from last night. i spent my last day of summer working 9-5 (yes, on labor day) then i saw my oldest friend. (in years known, not age) we got subway and picniced in the park. he knows me better than anyone in the world. love this guy. and after the sun went down, i went to see my newest friend. we watched a movie called "the good, the bad, the weird" about korean cowboys. lol of course, i loved it. :-P

This is why today was great:

1. I found a great parking spot without having to hunt for it 
2. got to school early enough to drink my Frappe and eat my egg n' cheese biscuit
3. drawing teacher seems like he's a pretty cool guy
4. he has a Russian accent. I think that's neat.
5. this class in on the 2nd floor, rather than the 4th like my past drawing classes. Less stairs!
6. got out of class at 10 instead of 12. Didn't have to draw on the first day.
7. great old-school tunes in the car
8. saw a butterfly
9. knees are healed and I can jog again (I hurt my knees a couple weeks ago from not prepping before jogging)
10. saw my new friend today and watched a funny movie
11. Got a letter in the mail from my Dear Darling Penpan, Jaymie. She gave me a CUTE little owl necklace! I can't wait to wear it tomorrow! :)

And now I need to get some rest. These allergies are driving me nuts! XD How was your day today?

Spread the Love Week - Day Four

Day Four of Spread the Love Week has been pretty fun. I had a friend come over and we watched the movie "I Love You, Man," which is pretty hilarious.

At work, in honor of Spread the Love Week, my friend Alyssa gave me a couple really great mix CDs of Hanson. Yes, that Hanson. They're so much more than MMMBop! They're still playing music and they're petty great.

Also, in honor of Spread the Love Week, I listed my Sarang heyo - ("I love you" in Korean) bracelets in my etsy shop. And they're Pay it Forwards. That means that they're only 20 cents. They're not listed to make money, just to Spread the Love.

And I wanted to say that lately the news has been making me sad. I've been hearing a lot about people committing hate crimes against other people based on their religion. That breaks my heart.

LOVE THY NEIGHBOR. Despite the color of his skin. Or the culture he was born into. Or who he prays or doesn't pray to. Or what he wears or what country he lives in. We're all in this together. Let's hug it out.

Spread the Love Week- Day Two

Spread the Love Week has been a lot of fun so far. Last night I made these little cards to pass out. I wanted to spread the word about Spread the Love. If anyone would like to have these cards to pass out, email me and I will send you the PDF file. (angiemayhandmade [at] yahoo [dot] com)

Last night I had the idea to make little bracelets and stamp "I LOVE YOU" on them. (inspired by these wish ribbons) But instead I decided to make my own stamp. I had bought a stamping block and carving tool a while back for Elsie's Style School, but I never got around to using them. Well today I finally did. I think I can count this as something on my goals list, too.

It reads, "Serang heyo," my favorite Korean phrase. It means I love you, and it was the first thing i learned to say/read/write in Korean.

I made a bunch of ribbon bracelets. Aren't they cute? I made a trip to Jo Ann Fabrics today to pick up fabric paint, and while I was there, I saw this cute little egg whisk. My mom had mentioned she wanted to get a whisk, but she doesn't like to spend money, so she hasn't gotten one. At first I passed it up, thinking, "If she really wants it, she can buy it herself," and started walking on. Then I stopped dead in my tracks and remembered what this week is all about.

My mom's gunna have the cutest, happiest, most cheerfuly rainbow whisk ever. I hope she smiles every time she makes eggs. Oh, and after I checked out, I gave the cashier one of the cards I made, and told her about Spread the Love Week. Which was awkward for me cause I'm super shy. :] But I did it anyway. i'm like a crafting machine!

last night i stayed up until 5am beading. i made three bracelets, a necklace, and a pair of earrings. it took so long because i kept changing my mind and taking things apart. i feel like it's my job as an artist to only sell things that i think are great. not just ok. so if i dont love it, i start over.

one of the things i made last night was this mood bracelet. the beads change color like a mood ring. and i used faux suede cord (i prefer to be animal friendly when i can) and a silver feather charm. I'm going to keep this one for my self, but i intend to make more for the shop.

this morning i made these little flowers out of scraps of fabric. this is my first attempt at this, and i cant wait to make more! i also made a little headband out of the white muslin.

again, this one is mine, but i plan on listing some of these soon. as soon as the sun comes out again so i can take some good photos.

my cat and i goofed off in front of the tripod a little before i made a craft run to the Hob Lob.

i made something new today

let me tell you, it is SOO good to have my macbook back. like omg you dont even know. i gave it a little kiss when i got it back home. <3 *hehe*

anyway, i made some jewelry today. from the beads that Melissa sent me for the Color Me Happy project.  by the way, these are mine. not for sale. <3

and i made a little bracelet out of silver beads from hobby lobby. and i used an Om charm. the symbol Om represents God and the energy of the universe.
