to my lovely ladies

i've said it before, but i'll say it again: i don't have many girls in my life. i feel like ladies are much harder to get along with and form bonds with than guys. i can never tell what a girl is thinking, and i never know if she's being genuine or if she's just being polite. (guys are tricky too, but easier to figure out than girls)

with that said, i want to say that i really appreciate the few girls that i DO have in my life. you know who you are. <3 well yesterday i told you i baked cookies to deliver to my boys, but i wanted to so something for the girls too. so i sat in the library today and made these watercolor valentine cards! :D i think they turned out pretty cute. i havent got to give them to my girls yet though.. i got a little side-tracked and stayed too long delivering cookies to my BFF while he was at work at the hardware store. we were laughing at the names of paint colors and fighting over whether or not flat paint worked as a chalkboard paint. (that is an experiment you can look forward to me getting into later) but tomorrow, girls, you shall have your lovely valentines! :D

oh, and i would like to say that i LOVE this new spot i discovered in the library, by the way. on the 3rd floor, very quiet, soft chair and big table, right next to a heater vent! warmth at last!

Spread the Love Week - Day Five

I had a pretty busy day, so I'll be honest- I didn't get my goals accomplished for Spread the Love week. But I did give a friend a ride to work, and I gave the teller at the post office one of my Spread the Love cards. So that's somethin, right? Well, since I didn't do much today, I'll spread the love in another way. I found a bunch of sweet quotes about love and kindness that I found fitting, so I'll share some of those with you now. <3

When you are in Love you can't fall asleep because reality is better than your dreams. - Dr. Seuss

If you haven't any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble. -Bob Hope

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world. -Heather Cortez

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. -Helen Keller

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. -Author Unknown

Never look down on anybody unless you're helping him up. -Jesse Jackson

You come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly. -Sam Keen

Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you - not because they are nice, but because you are. -Author Unknown

Have a lovely day. <3

"spread the love" week

i was completely overwhelmed with melissa's post here on oh my darling today. it was about spreading the love. one year ago, she was the victim of a violent attack, and now on the anniversary of that day, she's looking to counteract the hateful things people do in the world.

she calls it "Spread the Love Week," and if you would like to participate, please check out her blog post here. i hiiighly recommend it! and you can get the cute button to put on your blog too, so you can spread the word about Spread the Love. :)

i'm participating, of course, and here are a few ideas of things i've already planned on doing:

1) make friendship bracelets and cookies for my friends at work. i *miraculously* have the day off tomorrow, and saturdays are super stressful for the girls at the hobby lobby where i work, so i wanted to do a little something for the ones who are stuck there 8 hours tomorrow.

2) write back my penpals! i keep meaning to do it and i keep letting the day get away from me. >_<
3) send a little inspiring card to my ex-boyfriend. we dated for 6 years, and the last couple years of our relationship were really hard because he developed a drug addiction. its something he still struggles with now. we're still friends and do a pretty good job of keeping in touch. and he only lives 10 minutes away, but still. i want to send him a card to let him know that he's a special person to me and i know he has the power to kick the habit once and for all.

4) donate some clothes to charity.

5) my friend's birthday is coming up and i was gunna buy her something, but now that i think about it, making her something would be more meaningful.

6) send a few thank-yous to people i think deserve them. ;)

i hope lots of people participate in this project. let's take it a step further and try to rid ourselves of negative thoughts about others. sound like a plan? awesome. :]
